Dermal fillers help re-volumise and hydrate numerous facial areas by smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines. We use natural fillers, made from complex sugars, which mimic a naturally occurring skin compound already present in the skin. While dermal fillers are commonly used to restore volume-loss in ageing skin, younger demographics can also benefit from dermal fillers to enhance facial features such as lips and cheeks.

FAQ

How long will the results last?

Initial results should be visible straight after your treatment. Once the swelling has diminished, you will see optimal results in 2 weeks. Typically dermal fillers last anywhere between 6-18 months, depending on the area treated and the client themselves. Please consult with your cosmetic nurse on what results to expect.

Will it hurt?

Majority of clients describe the feeling of dermal fillers as a ‘prick’ sensation from the needle, much like a toothpick pricking the skin. The feeling is slight and only lasts a few seconds, however pain thresholds may vary from patient to patient. Consult with your cosmetic nurse if you would like a topical cream used prior to your treatment.

What is required before my session?

You will need to stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen, St Johns Wort, ginseng, omega3 or fish oil supplements for the 10-12 days prior to your treatment. For the 2-3 days prior to your treatment, you will need to avoid alcohol.

How long are treatment times?

Treatments times will typically only take 30-60 minutes.

Is down-time needed after my treatment?

No – there is no down-time required, meaning you can return to work and your life activities straight away. Clients should note however that you may experience temporary redness, mild bruising or swelling after your treatment all of which will diminish within 2-3 days.

We recommend to avoid excessive exercise and other strenuous activities, alcohol or blood thinners for 1-2 days post-treatment, to reduce the extent of any after-effects. Clients should also sleep on their back for the night following the treatment to prevent any displacement of the fillers.
